A Bit About Me

A nice cabrilla on a lovely day in Baja.

I am a family nurse practitioner, currently transitioning to retirement. I obtained my BSN in nursing from California State University, Chico in 1995. I started my career as a hospice and Ryan White case manager. In 1998 I returned to school, obtaining my MSN as a family nurse practitioner. Early on, I was hired at Feather River Hospital in Paradise, California to start and manage an Anticoagulation Clinic.  Starting a clinic from scratch was exciting and some of the best work I have done. I was blessed with adoring and interesting patients, a great pharmacy supervisor and wonderful staff. Unfortunately, the hospital and clinic burned down in the Camp Fire in 2018. By then, I had been providing primary care in Oregon for several years. For the last 5 years, I provided urology care in Coos Bay.

Nursing is the coolest and most rewarding job, ever! And my favorite part of the job has always been educating my patients and their families. Today, I still feel how patients’ thirst for information about their bodies and conditions. It is in this spirit that I have created this blog. Being infected with C diff was miserable and the most terrifying experience of my life. In fact, it led to my early retirement. I would like to increase your awareness about it to help prevent you or your loved one from getting it, and to provide quick and easy information to those suffering from and those surviving c diff infection. But it doesn’t stop there for me, I have many other health and healing topics to discuss and evaluate and share with you!

These days, when I am not thinking about future blog post topics, I am an avid angler, enjoying our local salmon runs, lake fishing for trout and going to Baja Mexico to hang into some epic dorado and yellowfin. I am a fair gardener and cook, love to sing, and my hubby Bruce and I are rock hounds and beachcombers. I am also a jewelry artist, wrapping stones in 14/20 gold or sterling wire, dabbling with silver smithing, and working with metal clay. I’m an Art Clay Silver certified instructor. I serve on the communication and marketing committee for The Alliance of Metal Clay Artists Worldwide, where I have an monthly early morning meeting in my jammies on ZOOM, working with my colleagues in the U.K. and eastern Europe, where it is their dinnertime. My jewelry can be found at www.moonkissedcreations.com .
